The BBC Has Done it Again...

Pushed me over the emotional edge. This time the culprit was Merlin.

I though that my next blog post would a book review, but then I finished Merlin today, and decided that I needed an outlet for my most recent addiction. I really never thought I would find a show that I loved as much as Doctor Who. Even Sherlock, which I adore, hasn't quite matched my love for Who, but then along came Merlin.

I've been wanting to watch this show for several years, and a few weeks ago finally decided to just watch an episode. At first I wasn't so sure, I thought it was a bit weak, and as I have always loved Arthurian Legends and retellings of those legends, I was a bit critical of the direction it was going. Halfway though the first season I realized how wrong I was. By season 2, I was hopelessly addicted, and the binge watching had begun. Two and a half weeks later, today, I had finished all five seasons and find myself wishing for more. But alas, that is not to be, as the show has ended, and ended perfectly. But I still feel sad that there will be no more secrets and revelations to uncover. Re-watching is never quite the same as the first time, but at least I can return to it whenever the whim comes over me.

The show itself though....It was just superbly done! Colin Morgan has to be one of the finest young actors to hit the screens in recent years. His portrayal of Merlin was superb with his ability to make me laugh in one moment and bawl like a baby the next. Today, as I watched the finale to the show, it became readily apparent to me just how he finally beat out Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch in last years UK National Television Awards. He, as Merlin, in Season 5, has to be some of the finest acting I have seen in awhile, and I sincerely believe that this is just the beginning of Mr. Morgan's career.

Merlin, has found a place in my heart. It is the embodiment of all of those fairy tale stories that capture your imagination and love, with equal parts mystery, humor, darkness, and love. Wonderfully acted and wonderfully told. I recommend this show to anyone. It will make you laugh and it will break your heart at the same time, but that's exactly what I want in a show!

As I find myself mourning the loss of no new episodes to watch, I will probably turn to re-watching them again, catching things missed the first time, and reveling in that fact that he BBC has, yet again, been able to turn out another show that has caught my heart and emotions in a way that I once thought only books could. So kudos to you, BBC and may you keep turning out the wonderful dramas that you seem so adept at writing!

A Blog......It's About Time Right?

So, here I am. I have finally joined the ranks of bloggers. I don't really know why it took me so long to decide to start one of my own. Probably has something to do with all of those wonderful memories of college essays.

But, seriously though, once upon a time I hated writing, and I think it was the lingering feelings of this hatred that prevented me from starting a blog of my own. And then the realization hit: it is nothing like writing when I was in school, because this time, I can write whatever I want about whatever subject I choose, and even share it with others, who just might, perhaps, share the same interests.

Enough, with that though, I'm sure what you really want to know, dear blog reader, is what exactly it is that I will be writing about. Well, never fear! For I assure you it will be awesome and epic! (Insert sarcastic tone here). Joking aside, I do really hope that you all will find it entertaining, because this blog will essentially be a conglomeration of my interests.

This means several things: it means that this blog will be a book reviewer (my primary objective), it will be a place to discuss my favorite show of all time: Doctor Who, as well as any other show that catches my interest. It just might end up being the place where I will make observations about society in general or any other little (or big) thing that catches my interest.

I addition to this blog, I have also started a companion YouTube channel, which I hope you will check out. You can find it here:Novels and Nonsense YouTube Channel

In short, my reader, I hope that you will check back soon and often to see what I have shared with you all. I hope that this, being my first and introductory post, will be the least interesting one I ever have!

Until next time, which I anticipate to be soon, enjoy life and all of the beauty and wonder it holds!
